MTV had a noteworthy run of teen-oriented reality shows in the 90’s and 2000’s. From the contrived intimacy of The Real World to the over-the-top antics of Jackass and its copycat shows, MTV featured hundreds of unknown young stars, and America fell in love. Sadly, some of these personalities died young, due to accident, suicide, overdose, and disease. Oftentimes, the characteristic that made them interesting in the first place had a role in their demise, which created a bitter irony that still lingers over their legacies.
