REFS is a name you should commit to memory, as Zachary Lipkins celebrates making a mark after his song “Forever” was featured on last night’s (Apr. 9) episode of HBO‘s Girls.

Thank you, Manish Raval.

Sprinkled with soulful pop, buttery retro-tinged production and top notch vocals, “Forever” is exactly what you need to start off your week with.

5 years in the making, I couldn’t be more proud to give you this. As seen on @girlsHBO , Forever – https://t.co/tvB2fIlXAL pic.twitter.com/mxN14WNAWf

“I think it was Tears for Fears where I was first like, wow, this is incredible music, but it is also pop,” Zachary said in a released statement explaining the DNA of “Forever”. “Then I became invested in, okay, how could I take all these textures and environments that I’m familiar with and that are important to me and that I love and make it available for everybody to appreciate?”

The answer was simple: upload to Soundcloud and press send. Released just an hour ago, we here at Okayplayer have already played it about four or five times (Soundcloud really needs a repeat option) as it has served as the beginning soundtrack to our Monday. “I wanted to make stuff that I was really proud of, from where I was coming from.”

Mission accomplished, sir.

Listen to “Forever” below, and keep your ears and eyes out for more from REFS.
